CASE STUDY: Miadora

Venture Funding and Strategic Partnership

Challenge

Miadora, a pioneer in online jewelry sales, needed to secure the funding that would allow them to launch their new retail concept for the conservative, regimented jewelry industry. They sought to take advantage of both global & regional market opportunities and the growing impact of e-commerce, by utilizing the new technology and business distribution methods available through the Internet.

Approach

This untested concept required us to aid in the creation of a business model that would address the nature of the industry itself, while reflecting the needs of the new online buying market. We worked with the management team to create a strategy that accounted for the current delivery method of fine jewelry in the retail channel, and develop the revenue and profit models needed to make this a viable company.

We helped create and execute an investor plan for funding the company, recruited a founding management team, and enlisted appropriate partners and suppliers. Our collaboration with management led the funding effort to successful conclusion and resulted in Miadora receiving funding from a premier venture capital firm. They were also able to engage a major retailer as a critical distribution partner while creating the new business model in a highly change-resistant industry.
